This review is LONG overdue, but I still haven’t forgotten the incredible service I received this summer at Sunny Sunoco. I apologize in advance because this is going to be a bit lengthy. This summer, in the midst of the pandemic, I researched the "safest" beaches in terms of busyness to surprise my mother and my two young sons with a day trip to Brigantine. We hadn’t been anywhere “fun” since March, and we really missed the beach. The plan was to drive, park, go to the beach, and leave. Totally safe. Well, 7 minutes from Brigantine, on the A.C. Expressway, my engine totally seized. I managed to get of the exit, and my car died in front of the Golden Nugget in the middle of a busy intersection. I called AAA. They were sending a truck out ASAP, but they advised me to get an Uber. Naturally, I was freaking out. This was supposed to be a "safe" trip. Anyway, the car got towed to Sunny Sunoco in Margate . We are from Pennsylvania. I had NO IDEA where we were or who we were dealing with. With a little research, I learned that the shop is family owned. When we arrived, the son, Colin, was running the shop. He took one look at us in our beach gear, handed me 4 beach passes, loaded his personal car with our stuff, and drove us to the beach, so we could wait there while he diagnosed my car! I have to tell you, I have never experienced service like this before! Anyway, we went to the beach and he looked at the car. Apparently, upon inspection, he discovered that my whole engine seized. He believed strongly that it was because of a "silent" recall on my car related to total engine failure due to faulty manufacturing (fast forward - and he was 100% correct!). He didn't want to touch anything for fear that it would negate any warranty. How honest is that?!! Anyway, Colin told us to continue to enjoy the beach, and he would come back to pick us up later on in the day. I arranged to have a tow truck take my car back to PA to the dealership. In the meantime, Colin offered to personally drive us to Enterprise to get a rental car (which was pretty far away) because they weren’t "picking up" due to COVID. I was worried about transferring my car seats to the rental because the installation was so complicated. Colin then informed me that he was a certified car seat technician! At that point, I was convinced he was an angel sent from heaven! When we got to Enterprise, we learned they were not doing one way rentals. We had no way home. It was 5:00 at this point. My husband started driving to come get us, but he wouldn’t arrive until about 7:30. What was I going to do with my mom and the kids?! Colin saved the day AGAIN! He drove up back to the shop, and let us store all of our stuff in his car! He then set us up at an outdoor restaurant to get dinner while we waited for my husband. I am still in awe of Colin’s kindness and compassion towards us that day. This situation could have been a total nightmare, but we got to the beach and fit in a nice dinner too! I don’t know when we will be near Margate again, but I can assure you that we will be stopping by Sunny Sunoco! I cannot recommend them enough! Thank you for taking care of me and my family, Colin! I will never forget your kindness!
